I have been lecturing since 1993, first teaching Art History at Newcastle College, where I also ran the part-time degree in Fine Art (franchised from the University of Sunderland) from 1996 - 2000. I was then appointed Section Leader (Head of Department) for Fine Art and Art and Design.
In 2003 I left Newcastle College to re-establish the Foundation Course in Art and Design as Programme Leader at the University of Sunderland. I am now Professor of Visual Art. Over the years I ran the Foundation Course, we have had some terrific students and our results were always at least 50% above the national benchmark. I am privaleged to teach a subject that is always stimulating - our students at the University of Sunderland are full of life, creativity and optimism! I am also fortunate to work with a brilliant team of staff. I am currently teaching on the Fine Art degree, the MA in Fine Art and a number (eight) of PhD students.
